PUBLIC SECTOR ACCOUNTING IN NIGERIA: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW

Abstract

This paper is a descriptive-analytic study, looking from the past, present and the design of  the future of  Public Sector Accounting in Nigeria. This research is adapted from the views of academic journals, researchers and accounting professional bodies. It is our view thatwith the introduction of public sectoraccounting reforms, there will be demand in futurefor more public accountants, strong public financial management and amendments to legal and regulatory framework of Public Sector Accounting in Nigeria.
